Arthur Wayne Bentz (Wayne), a beloved father, Granddad, brother and member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on April 11, 1942, in Hampstead, Maryland, Wayne lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. Wayne graduated in 1960 from North Carroll High School, in Hampstead, Maryland. Waynes journey through life saw him move from his birthplace in Hampstead, MD, to St. Joseph, Michigan, then to Knoxville, Tennessee; and for the last 44 years he called Manassas, Virginia home. Waynes career began as a gas station attendant in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from business school, he rose to significant heights in the commercial real estate industry for Citgo Petroleum. After reaching his goals in real estate, he then transferred to the terminal side of the company. In this position, he was responsible for the storage and distribution of petroleum products for the Northeast region. After a distinguished and rewarding 42-year career, Wayne retired as the Terminal Manager of Citgo Petroleum’s light oil facility in Fairfax City, Virginia. Wayne enjoyed many activities and was deeply involved in his community. Locally, he enjoyed coaching and umpiring at all levels of baseball. He also coached area youth in recreational league basketball. He proudly volunteered his time serving the Prince William County area as a Deputy Sheriff. Wayne also enjoyed nature, especially bird watching. It brought a smile to his face to see his bird feeders full and could identify every bird’s song. He would sit for hours in his favorite chair in his sunroom watching the wildlife pass by and enjoying their presence. He loved all area sports, horse racing, and NASCAR. Wayne took great honor in serving the community through his membership in the Masonic fraternity. Worshipful Wayne Bentz was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on June 20, 1997, in Manasseh Lodge No.182 in Manassas Virginia and served as the Worshipful Master of Manasseh Lodge in 2009. Worshipful Bentz Served as the Treasurer of Manasseh Lodge for over 10 years. He was a Member of the Manassas Royal Arch Chapter No. 81. He was also a Member of Destiny Court of the Order of Amaranth and served as the court’s treasurer for many years as well. At the time of his passing, he was recognized as Past Master. Wayne was beloved by his Brother Masons and will be greatly missed. Waynes legacy will be carried on by his loving family. Survivors include four children: Timothy Bentz and wife Pam, Mark Bentz, Diane Jersey and husband Bill, and Paul Bentz; One brother: Burnell Bentz and wife Patricia. His grandchildren Amanda and husband BJ, Timothy Wayne Jr and wife Taylor, Benjamin, Rachel, Conor, Aiden, Brooke and Blake; along with numerous great-grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Jean (Taylor) Bentz, and his two sisters, Martha Bruner and Linda Evans.
