Arthur Vincent Schweidler

July 12, 1946 – February 23, 2022 (age 75)

Born in Indiana, throughout his life he shared many memories of working alongside his grandparents on the Nesius family farm. He loved those days.

Art will always be remembered for his knowledge and limitless curiosity. A polymath and lifelong learner, he could often be found reading about the many things that captured his interest, from history, to science, to film, to weather, and more. Even as a child there was no machine he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) take apart and put together again. He loved cars, flew airplanes, and rode motorcycles. He enjoyed tinkering with, expanding his knowledge about, and creating new technologies. Art’s family and friends have fondly shared many stories of his diverse, numerous, and simultaneous projects and experiments (some of which would ignite or were even alive…). He loved music of all genres, old time radio shows and sci fi movies, and amassed a huge archive he readily offered too all. He had a passion and talent for photography and took his cameras on many of his life’s journeys.

Art’s family and friends have many special memories of exploring the outdoors, camping and fishing with Art. He had a great love of nature and wildlife. He enjoyed going on long drives on the mountain back roads of the Figuroea Mountain range, on the salt flats and byways of Northern Utah, and in the wilds of the Mojave Desert. He loved to photograph the canyonlands of the Southwest and beyond.

Art shared his many passions with his loved ones and was always game to join them in theirs. His mind, creativity, determination, humor and spirit were unique. Art will be dearly missed and  remembered always with love.

Art is survived by his children, Therese Schweidler and Chris Schweidler, his sister Susan Kilborn, brother-in-law Carter Kilborn, and nephew Aaron Schweidler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marie Nesius Schweidler and older sister, Mary Jo Schweidler.
