Arthur S. Fontes of Plymouth , died peacefully on February 24, at Plymouth Harborside Healthcare. Born in Sao Miguel , Azores on June 1, 1933 son of the late John S. and Amelia (Silva) Fontes. He came to the US as an infant and attended Plymouth Schools and was a graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1951. He went onto serve his country in the US Navy during the Korean War after returning from the war he joined the Plymouth Fire Department and was a Firefighter for over 29 years retiring in 1987,. A member of the Plymouth Firefighters Local #1768, Young America Club and the Cold Spring Club. He also worked many years at the Pilgrim Sands Motel Arthur had a great sense of humor and always had a way to make people laugh. He enjoyed working in his garden and having his beer.Arthur was the beloved husband of the late Rita A. (Cappella) Fontes. Loving father of James Fontes of Margate, Florida and John Fontes and his companion Beth Scigliano of Plymouth. Brother of John R. Fontes and wife Ann of Kingston and Dolores Fontes of Plymouth. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
