Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Linda B. Mathis; two daughters, Jennifer Mathis Spann and husband Tracy of Prairieville, La., Kara Mathis Ward of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Peggy Emfinger of Winnsboro, La.; brother, Bo Laird of Farmerville, La.and a granddaughter, Karli Mathis Spann of Pairieville, La.
He is preceded in death by wife, Carlene Sisson Mathis; parents, Arthur E. and Neva Mathis and a brother, Johnny Mathis.
Mr. Mathis was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Bastrop and served his country proudly as a U.S. Army veteran.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
