Arthur “Kris” Giese, 43, of Peru, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Kris was born on November 2, 1974 in LaSalle the son of Arthur W. and Kay (Schultz) Giese. He married Jennifer (Zavsza) Hughes on September 9, 2006 together they had one son, Arthur Jackson Giese. Kris later met Amy Gentert who he spent the rest of his life with.

Together they were raising their children, AJ and Amy’s twins, Kiley and Kahne Gentert.  Kris was an extremely proud dad, and loved all three kids immensely. He was looking forward to sharing his love of baseball this summer by managing a Peru Little League team. Kris was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, IVCC and Illinois State University. Kris enjoyed his job, working outside at ADM.

However, Kris was best known for the time he spent behind the bar managing Art Giese’s Tavern. Art Giese’s Tavern was started in 1936 by his grandfather, Arthur C. Giese.  Kris truly valued being a part of this tavern that had been handed down through the three generations.  Growing up, Kris excelled at sports, especially baseball. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Seattle Seahawks fan.

Within the last year, Kris enjoyed spending time taking his family RV camping and was looking forward to making the trek to Walt Disney World. Surviving are his loving partner, Amy Gentert; his Children, AJ Giese, Kiley and Kahne Gentert; his parents, Art and Kay Giese of Peru; one sister, Heidi (Kevin) Quick of Ottawa; one nephew and godson, Nicholas Quick of Ottawa and one niece, Maya Rae Quick of Ottawa. He was preceded in death his paternal grandparents, Arthur C. and Maria (Oddo) Giese and maternal grandparents, Vincent “Packy” and Marion (Stuart) Schultz.
