Obituary of Arthur Joseph Sonefeld
SONEFELD, Arthur Joseph of Saginaw Township, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014. He was 97 years old. Arthur J. Sonefeld was born on October 29, 1916 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Anthony and Michelena (Gutowski) Sonefeld. He married Sybil F. Jack on June 5, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on August 31, 1992. Arthur was a graduate of Ss. Peter & Paul High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Engineers during World War II from 1942-1945. Arthur served in the Pacific Theatre assembling Higgins Boats in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. Arthur was a founding member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed reading and was a meticulous gardener.
Surviving are one daughter and her spouse, Sybil M. and Gary A. Paquette of Saginaw; and Arthur’s constant companion his dog, Lucy.
