Arthur Gilbert Black was born in May, Idaho on December 17, 1923 to Joseph Francis Black and Nellie Cordelia Basinger Black. He was the 8th of 13 children. He has one surviving brother.

He served in WWII in the Navy Medical Corps.

Arthur married Harriet Elizabeth Austin in the Idaho Falls Temple 72 years ago, on October 25, 1949. He provided for his family through various trades he was a Deputy Sheriff, LDS Church farm manager, managed Aultorest Memorial Park grounds and owned his own business, Arts Janitorial Service.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a Sunday School Superintendent, Scout Master and Elders Quorum President.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Charlotte Black and son Beecher Lonnie Black and parents Joseph and Nellie Black.

Arthur is survived by his wife Harriet Elizabeth Austin Black, sons Steve (Gayle), Kent, (Marla), Terry (Janet), Gary (Halena), Jed (Jennefer); daughters Ruth Ann Black, Beth Brown (Johnny), Ranae Black; 32 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
