Arthur E. West, Jr., age 83, of Norwalk, died at the Norwalk Hospital on Thursday, July 29, after a long illness. He was the husband for 45 years of the late Elizabeth Barton West. Born in Schenectady, NY on December 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Arthur and Grace Crandall West and moved to Norwalk in 1960. He was a graduate of Draper High School in Rotterdam, NY and went on to work for General Electric in Schenectady. After moving to Norwalk he worked for many years as paymaster for Norden Systems before his retirement. Arthur enjoyed hand weaving rugs for his family and friends. He volunteered at the Norwalk Hospital Rehabilitation Section after recovering from a fall.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Sandra Vento and her husband Salvatore of Norwalk, a step-son, Carl Matarazzo of Chino, AZ, a sister, Joan Loudermilk of Mt. Airy, GA, 4 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew. Arthur was also predeceased by his brother, Richard West.
