Arthur “Dwight” Dalton, 88, of Pleasant Plains, IL, died Monday, April 19, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Cartwright Township, the son of William Frank and Grace Louise Shafer Dalton. He married Mary Jean Kreis in Ashland in 1954, and she preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Russwinkel; two grandchildren, Kyndra and Kole Russwinkel; and one sister, Wanda Taylor, all of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Virgil Dean, Henry Allen, and William Frank, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Jane.
Dwight served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Pleasant Plains Fire Department for over 28 years, serving three years as Chief. He was a certified firefighter and paramedic. Dwight was also a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
