Arthur (Art) Goldberg, 90, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Pittsburgh, PA peacefully passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his wife Randi, of 41 years, his daughter, Karen Needles, and brother, Gerry Goldberg.  Art is survived by his children:  Pam Wright (Geof), Ken Goldberg (Kathy), David Goldberg and son-in-law, Jim Needles.  He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Sandy Livingston (Stephen) and stepson, Roger Finn.  Art had 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Goldberg and brother-in-law, Jerry Raduziner.

 

Art was a gifted athlete, having excelled in many sports during his life.  He earned a basketball scholarship to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and received “All American” honors.  Among his fondest basketball memories was playing in the NIT basketball tournament in the “Final Four,” twice, at Madison Square Garden.  Art and his basketball teammates represented the US and won a gold medal at the 1950 Maccabiah Games in Israel.  He also played on the All Air Force team while serving.  As an adult, Art played handball, racquetball, tennis and volleyball.  He was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Western PA in 1999.

 

Art was a coach and a salesman.  He ultimately operated a consulting company until his retirement.  Art took tremendous pride in his children and grandchildren.
