Arthur A. McCann, Jr., 73, of Mansfield Center, died Thursday May 18, 2017 at his home.  He was born April 14, 1944 at Backus Hospital to Catherine McGourty McCann.  Art grew up in Glastonbury, CT.  There he attended public school and afterwards attended Northeastern University in Boston, graduating in 1968.  He received a B.S. in Education and then a Masters at Central Connecticut in 1974.  Art taught History at Bennet Middle School in Manchester, CT for thirty years retiring in 1999.  The same year he received The Sons of the American Revolution award for best History teacher in the state of Connecticut.  Summers, he worked for the DEEP of Connecticut for thirty-two years.  He and his wife Jana enjoyed restoring and maintaining a civil war era house in Mansfield, CT.  Arthur leaves his wife, Jana of 47 years; a son Ryan of Humble, TX and his wife Corazon; a sister Deborah M. and a brother Brian of Glastonbury, CT; a special cousin Sheila Chunis and her husband John of Rocky Hill, CT and many other cousins and nieces and nephews.  Art wanted to thank all his friends and colleagues that he taught with at Bennet and also friends of DEEP, especially Eric Johnson.
