Arnold “Red” Freeman Swango, 87, of Anderson, passed away on May 3, 2021, at home.

He was born on July 26, 1933, in Aurora, Indiana. Arnold graduated from Anderson High School. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Container Corporation of America as a die mounter after 47 years. He had attended Madison Park Church of God. He was an avid Anderson High School basketball fan. He held season tickets since 1947. He was also a huge LA Dodgers fan. He was instrumental in coaching Little League Baseball where he touched a lot of lives with his support and was an unofficial scout for the high school sports programs.

Arnold is survived by his loving spouse, Mary Margaret (Martinez) Swango; son, Vincent (Carol) Swango; grandchildren, Brooke (Keith MacDonald) Swango, Jason (Makenzie) Hammons, Vaughan (Molly) Swango; great-grandchildren, Kylin Hammons, Indica Swango, Layla Hammons, Elliana Hammons; brother, Dorville Swango, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lula Swango; siblings, Melvin “Bud” Swango, Frances Swango Armstrong, Myrtle Swango Baxter, Marlston Swango, and Gilbert “Gib” Swango.
