Armelda C. Baker, 78, of Bethlehem and formerly of Gibsontown, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. She was the beloved wife of John T. Baker, Jr. with whom she shared over 57 years of loving marriage. Born on July 2, 1943 in Gibsontown, NC to the late Edith Witmire. 

 

Armelda worked as a chef for St. Luke’s Hospital for 28 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of St John AME Zion Church, Bethlehem, and Church of God of Prophecy, Gibsontown, NC. Armelda served on the board of directors for CBA Club, and was a member of the Lehigh Temple #930, St. Bernard’s Beneficial Society, and the Paradise Club of Easton. She had many joys in life including cooking, playing card games, and working on puzzles. Above all she cherished time spent with her family. 

 

SURVIVORS: Armelda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John; sons, Harold Thomas, and Woodard Thomas; step sons, John Brown and Jason Baker; grandchildren: Dion Banks, Tiffany Banks, Brandon McDowell, Ericka McDowell, Terrence McDowell, Sherrell McDowell, Denisha Burnett, Bayla Burnett, Jamar Palmer, NaAliyah Palmer, Tiara Dennis, Tyrell Thomas, Eugene Thomas, Zalaya Thomas, Precious Marie Clark, and Latoya Murry, Antwan Thomas; sisters-in-law, Shirley Witmire and Paulette Brantley; brothers-in-law, Paul Grant and George Grant; host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by grandson, Corey McDowell; brothers, Douglas Witmire and Johnathan Fobes; brother-in-law Gregory Grant.
