Arlene Wood, age 91 of Burt, passed away, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Algona Manor in Algona. Mary Arlene Wood, the daughter of John P. and Christena (Kenne) VonBank, was born on May 9, 1926 in West Bend, Iowa. She attended country school near St. Joe. On September 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Wood in St. Joe, Iowa. Arlene was a dedicated wife and mother raising two children, Jean and Randy. Arlene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed wind chimes, butterflies, cookies and deviled eggs.
\Arlene is survived by her children; Jean Rath of Algona and Randy (Michelle) Wood of Algona; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Melvin “Fritz” VonBank of Algona, Richard “Pat” VonBank of Clear Lake and Robert “Bobby” VonBank of Algona and a sister, Geraldine “Sweet” VonBank of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob in 2007; a son-in-law, John Rath and brothers, Harold and John VonBank.
