Arlene Ann Weber, age 83 of Portage, passed away peacefully at her home on June 6, 2021. She was born April 27, 1938 in Detroit to the late Harold and Gladys (Meritt) Howarth. She spent her childhood in the Detroit area, graduating from Redford HS. She moved to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and later a Master’s Degree in Library Science. It was there that she met her future husband Michael Weber, and they married on June 20th, 1959. Arlene worked for many years as a legal secretary for the Ford, Kriekard & Allen law firm. Arlene and Michael spent many years as members of Saint Catherine of Siena.

In addition to working, Arlene had many hobbies including quilting, sewing, genealogy and antiquing. She was an avid reader who never missed an opportunity to sit down with a good book. She was true to her hometown roots and was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, often listening to games on the radio while she quilted. She enjoyed traveling -often to historic locations as she spent her life always learning. She had many friends and neighbors and loved visiting and sitting for coffee.

More than anything, she loved her family, in particular her grandchildren. Memories of times spent being together, holidays and playing games will be cherished for years. Her kindness, wisdom and humor touched all who knew her.

She will be dearly missed by Michael and her children: Kevin Weber, Ken Weber and Melissa (Nathan) Yost and her grandchildren Brendon (Kaycee) Weber and Hailey Yost. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Janet Robinson.
