Ardyth “Ardy” Barber, 85, of Okoboji passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the Calvin Community Home in Des Moines, IA.

Ardy was born on May 4, 1933, in Storm Lake, IA to J.C. “George” and Anna (Haahr) Grau. She graduated from Newell High School and attended AIB & Grandview College. Her working career was spent working as a Bookkeeper at various companies including Grau Motors, Schuelke Auto Company, Alta Coop Elevator, Oleson Easton Svendsen Ins., Elks Lodge in Storm Lake, Hunzelman, Putzier & Co., Norton & Fisher CPA’s, Tonsfeldt Furniture, Grau Mfg. Inc., Lakes Cable Systems and Mediacom. Ardy was united in marriage to Charles Willard Weiland.

He preceded her in death in September of 1971. She later married Jerry Barber on July 1, 1977. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2004. Ardy was a past member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, IA & St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hanover, IA. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano.

Ardy had a gift for playing music by ear. She also loved watching and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball teams. She was very proud of her extensive Iowa Hawkeye memorabilia! She cherished her memory of going to the Peach Bowl with Jerry to cheer on the Hawks. She also enjoyed looking through and ordering various items from a variety of catalogs that she dubbed her “Mickey Mouse Catalogs”. She made a lasting impression on the people she met. She is survived by her children Coleen (Al) Roberts of Norwalk, IA, and their children Ken and Kendra (Bobby); daughter-in-law Kim Weiland of Alta, IA, and her children Josh (Hannah), Adam (Jenna), Jon (Melissa) and Christian; stepdaughters, Shelli Haire of Lemon Springs, NC and her children Ryan, Ralyn (Aaron) and Rachel (Sebastian); Lori (Doug) Victor of Rembrandt, IA and their children Tony (Audra), Josie (Charles) and Devin; Vicki (Bruce) Stykel of Everly, IA and their children Aaron (Becca) and Cody (Bianca); Traci Barber of Wesley, IA and her children Dustin (Jessica) and Jacob; 5 great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Leo G. Grau of Sun Lake, Arizona and Dorothy A. Stilling of Northridge, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Anna, 2 husbands Charles and Jerry, son Anthony “Tony” Weiland, siblings Harold Grau, Holger Grau, Solon Grau, Ruth Bennett, and Ted Grau.
