Ardis Idell Mittan Parks, 90, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, went to be with her Lord, Monday August 26th, 2013, after a short illness.
She was born July 25, 1923, to Roy and Marie Mittan in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ardis was married to David W. Parks on October 23, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. She lived in Chicago Heights and Steger, Illinois most of her life until moving to Lawrenceville in 1999 to live with her daughter. For many years, Ardis was a member of the United Church of Christ of Steger and in her later years, Berkmar United Methodist Church of Lilburn, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, and most of all, caring for her family. After raising four children, she worked as a bookkeeper at Chicago Heights Glass & Paint Company and as a secretary at the First Congregational Church of Steger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter, Helen Louise. Survivors include three children, a son, Paul (Barbara) of Springfield, Missouri, and two daughters, Eileen (Martin) Miller of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Marcia Parks of Bad Zwischenahn, Germany, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
