Archie Wayne Powell Age 95 of Oakley passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility.Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Mr. Al Wright, St. Michael’s-Maple Grove, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.Archie was the son of the late Frank and Minnie (Vanbrunt) Powell born in Albee Township, Saginaw County, MI on September 29, 1921.Archie was a veteran of WWII, having served honorably in the United States Army from December 7, 1942 to July 22, 1946. He married Dorothy Wright on October 10, 1942. He later married JoAnne (Nelson) Samson on October 27, 1978. Both preceded him in death.Archie worked for the City of Corunna DPW as an equipment operator and retired on October 1, 1982. He was a life member of the VFW Post #9455, Owosso and was a former manager of Elsie Manor.Archie is survived by his children, Becky (Joe) Maurice, Cheryl Potter, and Jack (Joyce) Powell; step children, Chris Samson and Rob Samson; daughters-in-law, Carol and Stella; son-in-law, Jack Senk; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by two sons, Nick and Greg; daughter, Bonnie Senk; two brothers and three sisters.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
