Anton S. (Tony) Cornell

August 19, 1932 – October 29, 2022

His family bought land in Trumbull, Connecticut where they moved in the 1950’s, building a fine fieldstone house on Porters Hill Road. Tony’s sister, Margaret (Marge) introduced him to Mary Bercik, who became the love of his life, and in 1957 they were married at St.

Along with his father, and brother-in-law, George Carr, Tony founded a sheet metal fabrication firm, Cornell-Carr Company. They started out making bakery equipment in their garage, then transitioned into the marine window business with a small factory in Monroe, Connecticut.

Tony worked building windows by day and doing the engineering drawings at night. Yet he found the time to raise two wonderful daughters, Kim (Feucht) and Robin (Neal), as well as being a second father to his niece, Lisa Carr (Gangnath), whose father, George, passed away when she was quite young. He was devoted to his family, and his home was filled with love and laughter.
Tony had many interests – tennis, bowling, barbershop singing, boating, gardening, playing pinochle and raising tropical fish. He loved foreign films, and all sorts of music – from classical composers to Iggy Pop, and his walls are lined with floor-to ceiling bookcases full of CD’s, DVD’s and video cassettes. He always had to have the latest electronic gadget, and would spend hours on YouTube, discovering and enjoying  obscure musicians and dancers.

He supported his daughters unconditionally in whatever endeavors they pursued, and led the family and his business with great heart. He was beloved at his shop, and several of his employees have stayed with him for over fifty years, becoming de facto family. Over the years he designed windows, wiper systems and electronic controllers, building the business to become the primary source of marine windows for the US Navy.

Tony lost his wife, Mary in 2018. He is survived by his sister, Marge Carr, daughter Kimberly and her husband, Erick Feucht, and daughter  Robin with her husband Chris Neal and their son, Dima. Also his niece, Lisa Gangnath and her husband, Phil, and their children, Philip, Kelsey and Michael.
