WINSTED -BROWN – Antoinette (Tarascio) Simon Brown, 96, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on May 13, 1912 in Winsted, CT; the daughter of the late Carmen and Julia (Pasquarello) Tarascio. She was a lifelong resident of Winsted, and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She worked for many years at The Knitting Mill, the Hoisery, and the Mason Silk Company. She later worked at Highland Acres in Winsted, and retired from that position. Antoinette was predeceased by her late husband, Thomas Simon. She later married Howard Brown. After many happy years together, she was also predeceased by Mr. Brown. She and her husband, Howard Brown were very active in Winsted and Torrington Senior Citizens organizations. Antoinette frequently entertained by playing the piano and singing. She also loved to dance. In 1992, the Senior Center in Torrington had a Hawaiian night where people dressed in Hawaiian clothes. Antoinette and Howard won first prize for dancing. She is survived by several cousins, Ruby Diulio, Nicholas Russo and his wife Ann, and Eleanor Gelormino; a cousin by marriage, Rita Pasquarello; stepchildren by her late husband, Howard Brown; many nieces and nephews, and some very dear godchildren, and very close friends.
