Anthony Joseph Giunta, Sr. (a.k.a. “Tony the Barber”), age 76, passed away on June 9, 2016 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. Tony was a life-long resident of Glen Burnie, MD. Mr. Giunta was born on August 31, 1939 in Baltimore, MD to Joseph and Catherine Giunta. Tony was an ambitious entrepreneur and barber by trade. After starting as an apprentice in his father Joseph’s barbershop in 1955, Tony later owned and operated the original Tony’s Barbershop of Glen Burnie.
In addition, he was an Officer of the Anne Arundel County Police Department for eleven years, and worked as an Insurance Agent for Metropolitan Life, and owner and operator of Maryland Pressure Wash. Tony was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards and loved family get togethers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and seven children, Terri Lisica of Millersville, Anthony Giunta Jr. of Pasadena, Timothy Giunta of Glen Burnie, Theodore Giunta of Glen Burnie, and Tonya Neumeister of Westminster, Patrick Bledzki of Ashburn, VA, and Maciej Bledzki of Elkridge. Also is survived by 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Tony was preceded in death by his father Joseph Giunta, mother Catherine Giunta, brother Alphonse, sister Rose Deblase, brother Joseph and brother Frank.
