Anthony Sorrentino, 91, of LaSalle, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Peru. Mr. Sorrentino was born January 1, 1920 in Peru to Anton and Carmela (DiCarlo) Sorrentino. He married Frances Mrella on November 24, 1945 at St. Marys Church in Peru.
He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was a machinist working most of his career at Westclox in Peru, and later worked for Motor Wheel in Mendota and Caterpillar in Pontiac until his retirement. He was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, LaSalle, St. Patricks Church, LaSalle-VFW and the Knights of Columbus of LaSalle.
His is survived by his wife of 65 years Frances; children, Anthony (Louise) Sorrentino of Mundeline, IL, Sheila Sorrentino of Phoenix, AZ and LaSalle and Sandra (Jack) Bookhout of Frankfort, IL; 5 grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle (Katherine) Bookhout and Anthony, Carly and Michael Sorrentino and a brother Seth (Theresa) Sorrentino of Peru. He was preceded in death by 3 children in infancy, Camille, Michael, and Maria Sorrentino, his parents and 5 brothers, Ross, John, Joe, Sam and Angelo Sorrentino.
