Tony Michelini, 49, of Deer Park Township, passed away peacefully April 15, 2013, surrounded by loved ones, after a prolonged illness April 15, 2013 at his home.
Tony was born on April 19, 1963, in Ottawa, to Louis and Judith (Sutton) Michelini. He grew up on a farm in Deer Park Township and his fondest childhood memory was showing pigs during the summer at 4-H fairs. Tony graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1981 and initially went to study architecture at the University of Illinois, ultimately graduating from George Washington University in 1986 with a BBA in finance. Tony began his career in Washington D.C., where he lived for 12 years, starting as a commercial banker and later becoming an auditor for the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae). In this position he traveled extensively and enjoyed seeing the country. When he was tired of traveling he relocated to San Francisco in 1995, and worked for Catholic Charities for 15 years, serving as comptroller most of the time. Tony can best be described as selfless, generous, kind and loving. He was intelligent, independent, responsible and loved to laugh. Tony maintained dual residency between San Francisco and Illinois since 2005 and enjoyed reconnecting with his extended family members. Many of his cousins became very dear to him and he considered them like brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his brother Randy (Kim) Michelini and his niece and nephew, Danyelle and Ryan (Sarah) Michelini; a great niece, Leah Mae and many loving and dear cousins and extended family and friends.
