Anthony J. “Tony” Romano, 93, of Winsted, beloved husband of 65 years of Virginia “Ginny” Romano, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, surrounded by his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Valerie Romano of Newington, JoAnn English and her husband Donald of Abington, MA, Joseph Romano and his life partner Bruce Lamothe of Ogunquit, ME and Janice Stadler of Winsted. He was a very special Papa to his four grandchildren, Zachary and Carly English and Lauren and Kyle Stadler. He is also survived by his sister, Mary DeAnzeris and her husband Attilio of Torrington. He was the beloved Uncle Tony to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony’s big heart and sense of humor will be missed by a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Giuseppi and Maria (LaMagna) Romano, he was predeceased by his sisters, Lucy Iacino, Josephine Romano, Rose Michalek, Serena Mitchell and Ernestine Romano and a brother, Joseph Romano. Tony was employed for 31 years at Hudson Wire Co., as well as Sterling Engineering and the Electrolux Co. After his retirement, he enjoyed being a crossing guard at Pearson School until the age of 86. Tony proudly served his country as a Quartermaster in the U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Mann from 1943 to 1946. He organized numerous Navy reunions across the country for many years.
