Anthony Botticello, 87, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Anita (Hogan) Botticello for 63 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Andreana) Botticello, he graduated from Bulkeley High School and the University of Hartford where he earned a BS degree in Engineering and a MS degree in Economics from Hillyer College. He and his family lived in Newington for the past 56 years where he was a member of St. Mary’s Church. Tony honorably served his country in the U. S. Army and National Guard. Tony enjoyed his summers at the family cottage in Old Saybrook where he spent many an hour teaching his children how to swim and dive off the dock and motoring around Cornfield Point on his scooter. Tony was employed by Stanley Works and eventually retired from Hamilton Standard. He also taught economics at the Hartford State Technical College. He was a member and past president of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, Tony also leaves his five children, Cathy Kristof of Newington, Stephen Botticello and his wife Sue of Rocky Hill, Susan Burke of Lynn, MA, Anthony “Skip” Botticello and his wife Mary of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Jeanne Leppicello and her husband Mitch of Stillwater, MN, 12 grandchildren, Tim Kristof and his partner Rebecca Siegrist, Jeffrey and Peter Botticello, Jennifer Shattles and her husband Brandon, Siobhan, Ian and Ryan Burke, Scott Kelly, Nicole Miller and her husband Tim, Meagan, Toby and Simon Leppicello, and two great-grandchildren, Kendall and Austin Miller. He also leaves his two siblings, Marion Botticello of East Hartford and Bella Falatic of Vernon, his son-in-law Brian VanTasel of Phoenix, AZ, his in-laws, Jane and Phil Berry, Betty Oleksak and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patty VanTasel, his son-in-law, Eddie Burke, and his five brothers, Joseph, Gennaro, Vito, Carmen and Michael.
