Anne S. Costa of Windham CT. passed away peacefully on March 2, 2017 at Douglas Manor. She was born in Vienna, Austria on September 2, 1932, the daughter of Walter M. Singer and Helene Schiff. She received her Registered Nursing degree at Cambridge City Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and moved to Connecticut with her family in 1962. She started her career at Windham Hospital as a surgical nurse and move on to become the head nurse in the operating room for many years. During her working career she returned to Eastern Connecticut State College and received her Bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1979. Retiring from Windham hospital in 1988 she became the office manage for Windham Orthopedics for another 10 years. In her retirement, she was devoted to helping her deceased husband Wilfred with the management of his diabetes. She also enjoyed scrabble, complex crossword puzzles and reading. One of her favorite pass times was to follow UCONN Husky basketball. But her biggest joy was her grandchildren. She loved to partake in all of their accomplishment and milestones, most importantly, she supported their endeavors to continue with their education and become successful adults.

She is predeceased by her husband Wilfred J, Costa Jr. She leaves her son Mark and wife Brenda (Coder) Costa; her daughter Carol and husband Joseph Piscetello; and her sister Gertrude Savage. She also leaves her precious Grandchildren Stephanie, Michelle, Andrea, Alexander and Leanna; her great granddaughter Peyton; and 5 nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Douglas Manor for their warm and professional care.
