Anne S. Bennett

Anne S. Bennett passed away on October 5th at the age of 80 at the McCall Rehabilitation and Care Center. Born Elizabeth Ann Shull in Sac City, Iowa on August 2, 1933, she was the fifth of 11 children born to Mary and Arlo Shull. She graduated from Sac City High School the Valedictorian of her class. Anne then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Iowa State University. Her teaching career led her to New England and then on to Europe, where she taught in Germany for the US Army. She traveled extensively while in Europe most notably being with the first tour group allowed into the Soviet Union.
Anne and Lee enjoyed a six month sabbatical to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 1969. Then, after returning to Dallas for a short period, they moved the family to Idaho where Anne and Lee owned and operated Bennett’s Restaurant in Banks 2 for seven years. They sold the restaurant and moved the family to Boise where Anne worked for Boise State University until 1986 when Anne and Lee moved to Solana Beach, north of San Diego, where they both eventually retired.
Following Lee’s death, Anne moved to McCall, Idaho to be nearer to her children and their families.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband Lee and brothers Tom and George. Anne is survived by her daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Yoshitaka of Seattle, Washington; her son LeGrand and her a daughter-in-law Dorinda of McCall, Idaho; her grandchildren Kimitake, Erina, Sage, Henry and Lucille; brothers and sisters Norma, Connie, Joan, Janie, Don, Kay (Doug), Dennis and Mike.
A talented, intelligent, loving, caring and wonderful woman, Anne, you will be missed by all of us.
