Anna Reid Mason was born on October 5, 1928 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late Lenny and Irabell Reid. Anna’s mother passed away when she was very young resulting in she, her sisters and her brother Levi moving to Augusta Georgia to live with their Aunt Augustus Reid.
Anna was the last surviving member of her family, preceding her death was her brother Levi, her three sisters Mary Reid, Dorothy Burke, Forest Collier, and Aunt Augustus Reid. Anna was educated in the public school system in Augusta Georgia. In 1947 Anna married her sweetheart Lemuel Mason, Jr. in Aiken South Carolina. The couple later moved to Manhasset, NY and in January of 1953, Anna gave birth to their daughter, Sandra Yvette Mason. The family continued to live in Manhasset until 1959 at which time they moved to Hempstead, NY, where they still reside today.
Throughout her life Anna always prided herself on being a meticulous homemaker and her passions were cooking, baking and entertaining. On Sundays, Anna would always be remembered for her many style of hats to match her outfits. After 91 years of living, Anna departed this life on August 12, 2019. Loved by many, those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Lemuel Mason Jr., her daughter, Sandra Taliaferro, her grandchildren, Chevon and Jarred Taliaferro, and her great granddaughter Rylie Gianna Taliaferro along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and supportive friends.
