Anna Norine Rhudy

May 4, 1945 – March 26, 2021

Anna Norine Rhudy (Norine) was born on May 4, 1945 to Earl C. Lotz and Anna Louise Martin in Charleston, South Carolina.  Her brother, Richard E. Lotz, was born on November 3, 1948, and the two were very close growing up together.

Norine attended Denver East High School and received an Associate Degree in Interior Design from Arapahoe Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State University, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado.

On June 8, 1968, Norine married John Stanley (Stan) Rhudy at St.

In 1972, they bought their forever home in Littleton (Centennial), Colorado, near the Marathon Oil Company Petroleum Technology Center, where Stan spent his career as a petroleum engineer.  Norine and Stan developed many deep friendships within the Marathon community which Norine cherished.

Norine worked as a teacher for the Denver, Littleton, and Aurora public school systems, teaching kindergarten through sixth grades.

After their retirement in 1994, Stanley and Norine traveled the world, making trips to South Africa, Zimbabwe, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Panama, Cost Rica, Fiji, and several of the Caribbean Islands.  On September 20, 2006, she lost Stan to cancer.

Norine loved music and art, and was a talented painter, receiving recognition at various art shows.  She was a member of the Heritage Fine Arts Guild in Centennial, where she made many close friends.

Norine met Randy Peterson in April 2008 at a support group for widows and widowers, and they soon became a close couple.  Coincidentally, Randy and Norine were old classmates having both attended East High at the same time.

In March 2020 Norine was diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma and fought a brave battle until finally succumbing comfortably in her home.  Although it was a difficult year, Norine felt blessed by the overwhelming support and kindness shown by so many of her friends and neighbors.

Norine is survived by her son Troy Rhudy, his wife Kristen, and their daughter Katelyn; her son James Rhudy and his wife Beth; her partner Randy Peterson; her brother Richard Lotz and his wife Gail, her niece Christie Gilmore and her husband Robert and daughter Blake; her sister-in-law Shirley Rhudy, her niece Robyn Rhudy, and her nephew Roger Rhudy and his family.
