Anna Lee Jones Sherrill Clodfelter, 92, of Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Autumn Care of Statesville.

She was born in Catawba on February 13, 1920 to the late John E. and Anna Howard Jones. She was raised by her late uncle and aunt, Vance and Sadie Howard Sherrill, following the death of her mother when she was only a few days old.

She was a graduate of Troutman High School and worked in the lunchroom at the school for several years. Following the death of her late husband in 1977, she went to work for Julia Shumake and the current owners Joe, Kim and Chris Shumake at Julia’s Talley House in Troutman. She worked there for 25 years until she retired in 2005 at the age of 85 due to health reasons.

Mrs. Clodfelter was a member of the George M. Young chapter of the Eastern Star.

She was married January 1, 1941 to Rahn Smith Clodfelter who preceded her in death on December 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Moose, Elsie Drum, Johnsie Carpenter and Virginia Rockett and a stepdaughter, Janice Clodfelter Agner, who passed away in 1988.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Lee Clodfelter (Joyce); her step-daughter, Phyllis C. Cansler (Joe); her grandchildren, Leigh Anne Payne (Mark), R Eric Clodfelter (Melissa), Mark Thompson, Carol Thompson, John Agner (Solange) and Gretchen Agner; and her great-grandchildren, John Payne, Kellee Payne, Morgan Agner, Madeline Agner and Jack Agner.
