Anna Elizabeth (Sierek) Fitak, age 89 of Beaverton died peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the home of Tarry Haner. The daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Zawacki) Sierek was born in Saginaw on December 28, 1923, baptized at St. Casimir Church, where she was raised and educated through the 10th grade. During WWII, Anna worked at a major aircraft component company in Saginaw and met Imrich Earl Fitak of Midland, who was serving in the U.S. Army.

They were married in Midland on June 22, 1946. Anna and Imrich raised two sons, Richard Imrich and Michael David, and built a number of homes in the area. Anna was a long time member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Larkin Township. She became an avid gardener and later moved the family to a small “pick it yourself” fruit and vegetable farm in Beaverton.

Anna loved being in the vegetable fields all day, growing flowers, playing bingo at night, reading, collecting dolls, decorating her home, participating in radio contests and supporting Native American causes. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Edenville. For the last five years she was under the care of close family friend Tarry Haner of Beaverton.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 62 years, Imrich; brother, Walter L. Sierek of Tampa, Florida; and sister, Cecelia Bradley of San Diego, California.

Surviving are her sons, Richard Fitak of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Michael David (Madge) Fitak of Galena, Ohio; five grandchildren, David, Jason, Michelle Cowman-McCoy, Robert and Melissa Fitak; and twelve great grandchildren, Shella, Jace, Emilee, Austin, Lillyanne, Camden, Joey Zonski, Kane, Kai, Mai-Le, Jaymin, and Finley; brother and sisters in law, Irene Beck of Midland, Mary Jane (William) Kelly of Auburn, Lucy (Hank) Karis of Clio and Steve (Anne) Fitak of Midland.
