Anna (Creanza) Davis, of Easthampton, MA, passed away on Monday morning, May 10, 2021, after a brief illness. Born December 26, 1925, to Gennaro and Genoveffa Creanza of Springfield, MA, she was devoted to her family and the many good and special friends she attracted, sought out, and nurtured throughout her long life. Anna was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Ann Tautznik; her husband, James Mack Davis (originally of Arkport, NY); and all five of her siblings, May, Jennie, Mike, Kay, and Ruthie. She leaves behind her son, James Mack Davis of Chicopee; her daughter, Pamela Jean Davis of New York City; her son-in-law, Michael Tautznik of Easthampton; and her close friend, Judy Twiss of Easthampton; as well as eight nieces and nephews. Anna was an exceptionally strong woman who became a model to her daughters and son of how to persevere with kindness and fairness in the world: life was not easy, but you were never to think that you were the only one having a hard time. A graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield, she started working at Forbes and Wallace Department Store while still in school and ultimately became an assistant dress buyer before she married the shy, smart, handsome man she met at a dance. She was also a cashier and office worker with Kentucky Fried Chicken and a longtime employee of Sunshine Art Studios. In later years, she became a senior aide, serving in Springfield and Easthampton government and nonprofit agencies for almost 20 years and not leaving the program until just a few years ago. Having spent her entire life in Springfield, she moved to Easthampton 15 years ago and thrived in her new town, demonstrating her resilience and capacity for joy. As she got older and further away from the demands of raising a family, the glee and impishness of the second-to-last child in a large close-knit family began to emerge again, tempered by her generous nature and serious sense of right. She loved food, simple excursions and celebrations, laughter, pretty clothes, and animals, particularly elephants, and thoroughly disliked cruelty in any of its forms. Of course, she could be quite stubborn.
