Mrs. Susan Ann Wood McLean, 67, formerly of Newnan, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at her home in Grand Lake, Colorado. Ann was born February 6, 1952 in Yokohama, Japan to the late James E. Wood & Sadae Ikawa Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Gibby. Ann graduated from Newnan High School in 1970 and received her undergraduate degree from Columbus State University. She later obtained her master’s degree from the University of West Georgia. Ann began teaching math and science at Newnan High School in 1979. In her 28 years teaching, she touched the lives of numerous students and she mentored many teachers. In 2005, Ann was head of professional development for the Coweta County School System until retirement in 2010. Survivors include husband, Mark McLean; children, Steve Gibby, Kelly Bence; sister-in-law Dorothy McLean; grandchildren, Bailey Bence, Logan Bence; siblings, Brenda McKoon, Janice (Brian) Schmid, Jimmy (Lynne) Wood, Carol (Bud) Long, Lenn (Theresa) Wood, Janet Brown, Thomas (Sherri) Wood; numerous nieces and nephews.
