Ann first came to Flagstaff in the late 1940’s when her grandmother, Venna Grasmoen and her then-husband Al Grasmoen bought and ran the Arizona Snowbowl. She then returned to Flagstaff permanently for college in the early 1950’s.

Ann spent her career teaching in the Flagstaff Public Schools, the majority of the time at Flagstaff Junior High School, now Flagstaff Middle School. She retired in 1996.

She is survived by her mother, Gail Blomquist of Portland, OR; her daughter, Jill Morse and her family, Bill, Sammi, Zach, and Max of Flagstaff, AZ; her son, Glenn Leighton, and his family, Angi, Alex, Aaron and Jack of Perth, Western Australia.

Ann loved to ski, play tennis, camp and walk her dogs in the forest. She was a mentor in the public schools and volunteered with the animal shelters. She was a foul-mouthed, swashbuckler who hated telemarketers and snowboarders. That being said, she loved her family and friends with a generous, fierce and gracious heart; she also loved to have a good laugh and left this life doing so.
