Ann “Nan” Lisbeth Hamilton
With her passing, we lost a beloved, caring and witty mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife and friend, Ann “Nan” Lisbeth Hamilton on May 22, 2021, at age 80 in her hometown, Melbourne, FL.
Ann Lisbeth Hamilton was born on November 3, 1940, in New York City to Francis X. Hamilton and Margaret “Peg” Hamilton (Lynch). She attended Coral Gables High School, Class of 1958, where she participated in Deb Juniors, Homeroom Treasurer, Student Council and was also President of the student body during her senior year. Following high school, Ann attended Barry College (now Barry “University”), where she made the Academic Award Dean’s List, was Class President, Social Chairman and Newspaper Columnist, prior to receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Minor in Education, in 1965.
On August 22, 1964, “Nan” married Richard F. Petersen. They had two children, Mark and Tracy. Early in “Nan’s” career, she enjoyed being an elementary school teacher. Following that, she was a paralegal for an engineering company and then a manager at an ophthalmologist office. Some years later, she obtained both real estate and real estate broker licenses and practiced as a real estate agent and a real estate broker-salesperson. “Nan” also worked at an insurance company as an account executive, where she received several contest awards. During her retirement years, she held a telemarketing job, where she received merit awards and held several retail jobs where she shined for her hard work and great enthusiasm!
“Nan” was predeceased by her parents and “Angel Baby” brother. She is survived by her son, Mark E. Petersen (Stacy), daughter, Tracy L. Dayton (Erik), grandsons: Mark E. Petersen Jr. (Jordan), Christian D. Emery (Katie), Jacob R. Emery and Caleb M. Emery, granddaughters: Mirissa B. Petersen, Cassandra N. Dayton, Carissa L. Dayton and Lilliana G. Petersen, great-granddaughter, Emma G. Petersen, brothers: MGen. Francis X. Hamilton Jr., USMC Ret. (Sandy) and William A. Hamilton, nephew, James P. Hamilton (Joy), nieces, Diana Glazier, Joanna Westbrook (Mark) and great-niece, Mairin Hamilton.
