Ann (Howard) Cronin Hakola

Georgia (Ann) Howard was born in Sacramento, CA to Floyd F. and Elizabeth (Beth) Blackford Howard on July 26, 1931. She died November 9, 2016.

Ann was pre-deceased by her beloved and devoted husband, Harold (Hak) Hakola. Survived by her loving children, daughter Nancy Amavisca and husband Gilbert; her son Tim Cronin and wife Sandy; stepsons Glenn Hakola and wife Cindy, and Larry. She was the loving grandmother of thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She grew up in the delta town of Courtland, CA; graduating from Courtland High School in 1949. After her children entered school she started college and earned her teaching credential from Sacramento State University of California in 1962. Her first year of teaching was at Rocklin Elementary on a provisional credential. She joined Rio Linda District in 1962. She did most of her teaching at Dry Creek School, where she loved the children, parents and staff. She retired in June 1991.

After retirement, she volunteered at the American River Hospital in the acute care/ICU unit until the hospital’s closure. She also started tap dancing and was a member of the Sunrise Tappers. This group puts on shows for retirement homes, convalescent hospitals, and assisted living establishments.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Jack Howard; son Michael Cronin and Daughter Michaela Ann Cronin.
