Ann A. Dietz, age 70 of Midland, died Monday, September 30 at Brittany Manor. Surrounded by her family we said goodbye to Annie today, losing her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Even after being diagnosed she was determined to make the last years of her life something we would always cherish. The fondest memories of our mom were family vacations every summer in northern Michigan where she enjoyed hours of swimming with her kids. Her passion for country music would never let her miss a country music festival with her dear friend Mary Maxwell. We will miss her laugh, her smile, and the long walks with our father.

She was our shoulder to cry on, our rock when we needed her, but most of all she was our Annie. She will be missed by her adoring children, grandchildren, and the love of her life of almost 50 years our dad. The daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Couture) Brown was born September 5, 1943 in Alpena. In her youth the family moved to California and Ann graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, CA in 1961. Ann moved to Midland and on January 25, 1964 married Stephen Dietz. Ann worked as a deli manager for the A & P Grocery store and later Farmer Jack’s Grocery until she retired in 2003.She was a lifelong active member of Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Stephen; sons, Stephen (Christine) Dietz of Midland, Mark (Tracey) Dietz of Flat Rock; daughter, Kristin (Phil) Parks of Midland; grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Post, Philip Parks, Sam Dietz, Margaret, Adelaide, Gillian and Aidan Dietz; great grandchildren, Genevieve Ann Post and Graeme Post; her brothers, Robert Brown of Bend, OR and James Brown of Los Angeles, CA; and her sister, Sue Ellen Brown of Las Vegas, NV. Ann’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brittany Manor, especially Belinda for the loving personal attention they provided to Ann during her stay.
