Anita Lillian Murphy (nee Grandmaison), age 95, of Crete, IL, passed away at St. James Manor and Villa on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
Anita was born on April 14, 1918 in Lynn, MA, where she lived until she met her husband, Dana, now deceased. Dana and Anita were married on April 7, 1951 in Lynn, MA. They settled in Park Forest, IL to raise their family, and to play golf, bridge, and bowl in their free time. They loved to travel the US and Canada in their motor home, and spent their retirement years living in Port St. Lucie, FL, where they were active with the Savanna Club.
Anita returned to the Chicago area shortly after Dana”s death in 2001, to be closer to her sons.
Anita”s survivors include her four sons: Michael (late Christine) of Crete, IL, James (Brooke) of Western Springs, IL, Patrick of Chicago, IL, and John (Christine) of Marengo, IL.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Alfred Grandmaison.
