Angelo Joseph Recine, 94, born one of nine children in the city of New Brunswick, NJ passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Living in Milltown for 60 years, he led a very productive life. Angelo attended New Brunswick High School and left his senior year to serve our country in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Caperton as a Gunner’s Mate, 1st class. For heroic and meritorious actions, he was awarded the Bronze Star showing courage and determination under enemy fire. He served in the South Pacific Theater. Honorable discharge in hand, he returned to play semi-pro football in 1946.

Football was his passion, the Giants his team. Angelo was inducted into the New Brunswick High School Athletic Hall of Fame in May 2006. He received his GED well into his eighth decade of life. His work ethic served him well, working for Atlas Concrete Company while attending high school, became a mason by trade. Working long and hard brought him to become President of the company in 1972. After 49 loyal years, he retired to enjoy full-time the things he loved, football games, crabbing, fishing, camping, horse racing, traveling and Atlantic City. He spent many years at spring training for the Oakland Athletics, shagging balls.

Angelo is survived by two daughters, Arlene of South Seaside Park and Lois of Milltown. A devoted son-in-law James Anderson. four grandchildren, Christopher, Shannon, Laura and Tracy. and five great-grandchildren, Charley, Quentin Donald, James Donald, Luke Paul and Lilyana Shae. Surviving are three sisters, Jen Beese, Christine Delhagen and Catherine Delhagen. two sister in-laws Mary Recine and Carmela Recine. many nieces, nephews and their children. Also surviving is Ruth Bell, a devoted companion and her devoted family.

Predeceased are three brothers, Carl, Vito, Salvatore and two sisters Louise and Theresa Geardino. Also deceased, Joyce Recine wife of Carl Recine and devoted son-in-law, Donald Szabadics. He was loved by many and will be missed.
