Angela Marie (Carenza) Palmisano, 82, formerly of Newington, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2015, after a brave and courageous 20 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent J. Palmisano, Sr. Marie was born and raised in New Britain where she was an active member of St. Ann’s Church. She worked for the State of Connecticut as a bookkeeper for Ella T. Grasso in the late 1950’s. After many years of employment, she retired from the VA Hospital in Newington where she served as a medical secretary, and supported veterans in the radiology, physical therapy and the pharmacy departments. Marie and Vinnie built their home in Newington, where they raised their family and lived for many years. They were members of the Church of the Holy Spirit and were active in the Mr. and Mrs. Club. She was deeply religious, selfless, and devoted to family. She lived by the golden rule of treating others as she would want to be treated and instilled this practice into her children. Marie loved to cook and bake for her family and friends, who would come from out of town for her home made pizza, Italian cookies and pastries. Throughout the years, Marie and Vinnie loved to dance. Even after the onset of Alzheimer’s, Vinnie would take her to McDonald’s in New Britain and Plainville, where they would dance to the music of local musicians. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves her three children, Christine and Paul Mills of Plantsville, Vincent J. Palmisano, Jr. and his wife Norina of Newington, Denise and Ernest Koeppen of La Canada, California; two grandchildren who were the light of her life, Nicklaus Koeppen of Rohnert Park, CA and Alessandra Koeppen of La Canada, CA. She also leaves a sister Ann Vaverchak of New Britain, and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the herculean staff of angels on Wooster 2 and 3 at Masonicare, for their loving support in helping Marie maintain her dignity and comfort over the years.
