Angela Elizabeth Skelley, 42, passed away unexpectedly at her mother’s home in Pomfret, CT on February 11, 2021. She was born in Putnam, CT on October 6, 1978 and grew up in Brooklyn, CT. She graduated from Killingly High School, class of 1996 and went on to graduate from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2002, with a major in communication. Angela later settled into a career at UCFS in Norwich, CT making a positive impact on many lives through the field of Social Work. Most recently and up until she passed, Angela held a job at Quinebaug Middle College in Danielson, CT as an Instructional Assistant, working with students. This was a job she found so fulfilling as it gave her the opportunity to do what she loved- helping children.
Angela enjoyed acting in a theater group with her father Robert. She even had the courage to make a movie/video. Friends and family will remember Angela as a positively sincere and genuine person who made a friend out of everyone she met. Always the optimist, she had the uncanny ability to see the good in everyone. Those closest to her have been left with an insurmountable hole in their hearts. We will smile when we remember Angela and try to welcome feelings of love and comfort instead of sadness and despair as we know that she would never have wanted any of us to hurt. She spent her life building us up and we will not disappoint her by falling down.
Angela leaves behind her mother Tessa (Dragon) VanLear and stepfather Arthur VanLear of Pomfret CT; her father Robert Skelley and stepmother Roanna Skelley of South Carolina; her stepsister Marci (Spencer) Viens and husband Jared Viens of South Carolina; nephew and niece Logan and Zoey; her stepbrother Aaron Spencer and his wife Heather of Florida; nephew and niece Malachi and Micha; her foster sister Ashly Rivera of Norwitch; foster brother Alexis Ayala, Jr of Arizona; her special aunt Darlene (Dragon) Dell and husband Michael Dell of Putnam, CT; their daughter Jennah Dell; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also leaves lifelong best friends Taryn Novotny of Woodstock, CT and Jean Hemmig of Killingly, CT, and many others. Angela was predeceased by her beloved cousin Heather Lefevre.
