PFC Andrew Martin Harper, 19, of Maidsville, WV passed away suddenly Friday, March 11, 2011 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. He was born August 17, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina the son of Steven Matthew Harper of Maidsville, WV and Deanna Jeanette Anderson Harper Wells and Stepfather Craig Lane Wells of Middleburg, Florida. He is also survived by one brother; Steven Matthew Harper II of Burbank, IL, one sister; Bridgette Kathleen Ross and husband Michael Brandon Ross,of Middleburg, FL; maternal grandfather Charles Edward Anderson of Middleburg, FL; paternal grandfather; T. Dane Williams of Lost Creek; one step sister; Camille Sophia Wells of Dayton, OH; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and step grandparents; Wallace Hunt Dickson and Pauline Lillian Dickson of Green Cove Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Sara Marie Anderson in 2010 and his paternal grandmother Glenna Kathleen VanHorn Williams in 1988. Andrew attended Nutter Fort Primary and Intermediate, Washington Irving Middle School and then transferred to South Harrison Middle School. He then went on to attend University High School where he played football, was a member of the track and wrestling teams. He graduated University High in 2009 at which time he joined United States Army. He obtained the rank of PFC/E3 and was currently assigned to Co I, 3d Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment Vilseck, Germany. In addition to sports Andrew enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was a member of the Young Life of Morgantown and attended Chestnut Ridge Church. He was also a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineer fan.
