  • Date Of Death: February 5, 2022

Andrew “Andy” Joseph Carrillo passed away on February 5, 2022 at the age of 66 surrounded by his loving family.  He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and a man of faith.  He battled serious medical issues in recent years and showed his courage, grace and dignity in facing those challenges. Despite the struggles, Andy remained his typical witty self, and active with his art, woodwork and other hobbies.

Andy was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 18, 1956 along with his twin brother Charlie to Rafael and Loretta Carrillo.

He goes to heaven to join his father Rafael Carrillo.

He is survived by his sons: Dylan, Bobby (Noelle); mother Loretta, brothers: Charlie (Debbie), Tony (Annette), David; sister Cathy; grandchildren: Robert, Jr., Matt, Zelda, also several nieces and nephews, along with many friends. He will be missed dearly, but he will live on in our memories that we will enjoy and cherish until we meet again.

He graduated from Manzano High school in 1974. In his early life he worked at Kurt’s Camera Corral and eventually opened his own camera store Great West Camera. In the mean-time he received a Fine Arts Degree from UNM.  Working various sales jobs launched him into a career working in Pharmaceutical Sales until his retirement.

In Andy’s twenties he was an avid hiker, white water river rafter, outdoors-man, and loved taking pictures of his travels. He was a talented artist and was very creative.  His art spanned various mediums, from paint, pencil, photography to wood work, and various other art forms.

He had a thirst for knowledge, was very well read, and could hold a conversation on just about any topic.  He was also a great storyteller and his wit was second to none.

Special thanks to those who provided medical care and rides to appointments the last 13 years and to his walking buddy Eric.

Andy’s favorite saying was, “Laugh while you can monkey boy.”

Andy’s Life Celebration will begin with recitation of the Rosary on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at San Antonio Mission Church Abeytas.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Eric Frederick.
