Andrew J. Pape died at home Wednesday, November 7, 2012. He was the husband of Christine Pattillo Pape.
Andrew was the son of William J. Pape II and Patricia Moran Pape and was born in Waterbury February 13, 1966.
He grew up in Middlebury and was a graduate of Suffield Academy where he met the love of his life Chrissie Pattillo and was a graduate of Tulane University.
Andrew was vice-president and assistant treasurer of American Republican, Incorporated and was Director of Operations of the newspaper and its subsidiaries. He was also General Manager of the StepSaver publications.
Andrew was a governor of the Madison Beach Club and a past Commodore of the club. As commodore, he was responsible for preparing the boats and docks of the club for hurricane Irene and for the recovery afterward.
He was a former officer of the Mattatuck Museum and a director of the former Waterbury Club. He was also active with the Anderson Boys Club. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Andrew loved sailing, working with Chrissie on caring for and furnishing and decoration their home. He enjoyed going to auctions and was knowlegible of oriental carpets, antique furniture and artwork. As a handyman around the home, he had no peer and was always ready to help others. He was a friend to everyone.
As a child on vacations, he made friends of the staff and enjoyed helping them.
As a father, he was full of tremendous love and generosity.
Besides his wife and parents, he is leaves his three daughters, Alexandra, Annebelle and Caroline, son Jamieson, brother William B. Pape and his wife Barbara Bradbury Pape of Woodbury, mother-in-law Gioia Pattillo of Suffield, sisters-in-law Nancy Butler, of Suffield and Marion Pattillo of New York City and brother-in-law James Pattillo of Middlebury.
