Amelie “Amy” (Chapin) Gannutz, 100 of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Peter Francis Gannutz passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Touchpoints at Manchester. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister and brothers. Amelie was born in Tolland, MA on September 11, 1915 daughter of Alfred and Mabel (Rivers) Chapin and spent her childhood years in Watertown, CT. After moving to Manchester, CT where she lived the majority of her adult years, Amelie created many unique works of art and showcased them in her red barn on Lydall Street. She was the school secretary at Nathan Hale Elementary School in Manchester and taught art classes in Alaska and in area schools. Amy was known in her more recent years for her original note cards with which she blessed countless people. Amy was best known for her genuine interest in and unconditional love of people. She made it her business to stay in touch with everyone she knew and had the gift of making each person in her life believe they were her favorite. Amy is survived by her pride and joy, two sons, Ted and his wife, Lee Gannutz of Ickesburg, PA and Michael and his wife, Michelle Gannutz of Cranston, RI, five treasured grandchildren: Jennifer Anderson of CA and her husband, Tom, Kimberly Hock of IN and her husband, Robert and Sean Gannutz of MO and his wife Tiffany and twin girls Kris Levy and husband Jim and Kim Briggs and husband Peter both of CA, 15 beautiful great-grandchildren, 5 namesakes, her niece; Christine Walker and family of Palmer, AK and many extended family members.
