Amelia McGinnis Rider, 86, passed away Friday, October 03, 2014 at her home surrounded by her children and family in Sharpsburg, GA. She was born June 7, 1928 in Hall County, GA to the late Gaddis McGinnis & Eunice Roberts McGinnis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Rider; sisters, Mary Murphy, Clara Lee Presley, and Edith Jones. Mrs. Rider was a longtime member of Unity Baptist Church where she was in the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and worked at Playtex International for 20 years before starting the family business, Rider Pest Control Company with her husband, James Rider. She then opened Amelia’s Collectibles Doll Shop. Survivors include children, Martha Van Drew, James Porter Rider, Betty Adkins; siblings, Pat (Lamar) Lee, Agnes (Reuben) Brock, Louise (Jack) Joiner, Joe (Louise) McGinnis; grandchildren, Matt Titshaw, Beth Tomlinson, Stacy Adkins, David Van Drew, Michael Van Drew; ten great-grandchildren and her devoted caregivers, Petrina Bartley & Sandra Myers.
