Amalia Bruce entered the gates of Heaven on February 28, 2015, joining her loving husband; Alvin Bruce, as he patiently waited for the day of their reuniting as they were the love of each other’s life. Born June 19, 1929 in Oriak, Italy where she lived until the communists took over that part of the world. During World War II; Amalia escaped Oriak which was occupied and claimed as part of Yugoslavia. Amalia spent years in a refugee camp in Italy until she was sponsored by Mary Thompson of South Carolina, and came to the United States in 1961. Amalia worked in a sheet factory in Charleston SC, this is where she met the love of her life and married Alvin Bruce in 1962. Amalia, her son Joseph, and her husband Alvin moved to Belleville, IL and eventually relocated to Washington D.C. In 1963, Amalia gave birth to another son; John and her new family settled down in Upper Marlboro, MD. Eventually; Amalia went to work for the Marriott Hotel Corporation as the restaurant manager of the premier Windjammer Restaurant.
