Alvina D. “Winnie” Larson, 98, of Rock Falls, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday morning, June 4, 2017 at Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center, in Rock Falls.
Winnie was born on May 26, 1919, on the homestead in Kroschel, MN to Wessel and Roelfiena (Withoff) Delger. She attended grade school at a one room school near Kroschel, then moved to Sandstone, MN where she graduated from high school in 1938. Later that year she married the love of her life Rev. Ernest John “E.J.” Larson on September 21, 1938. They moved to Illinois in 1939 where they ministered together at several churches in central and northern Illinois, including Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ottawa for many years, and the Deer Park Community Church until his death in February 1987.
Winnie was also a clerk at Carson Pirie Scott for 19 years and the Ottawa Greenhouse. She was a member of the Deer Park Community Church, and served as an election judge for many years.
She is survived by 3 children, Carolyn Kucinic, of Channahon, Roger (Flora Jo), of Rock Falls, and Sharon (Donald) Fogle, of Montgomery, 5 grandchildren, Wayne Larson of Harmon, Kenneth Larson and Sherri Bellini, both of Rock Falls, Denise Fogle, of Naperville, and Gary Fogle, of Aurora, and 6 great grandchildren, Zion Little, Noah Bellini, both of Rock Falls, Nicole Larson, of Lombard, and Danielle, Morgan, and Dylan Fogle, of Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. E.J. Larson, and 2 sisters, Vera Keller, and Pearl Delger. Pallbearers will be Gary Fogle, Dylan Fogle, Wayne Larson, Kenneth Larson, Zion Little, and Noah Bellini.
