Alvin Suess, 92, of Freeport died Thursday February 16, 2006 at Provena St. Joseph Home. He was born May 28, 1913 in Scottland, SD to George and Magdalina Suess.
He and Eva Willemssen were married on October 23, 1939 in Parkesburg, IA. Mr. Suess farmed in the German Valley and Freeport area until he retired in 1973. He also worked for his son in law Don Temple before and after his retirement for many years in concrete construction. He was a member of Zion Church C C C C and served on the church board for many years.
He is survived by his wife of Freeport; three daughters Neva (Don) Tempel of Pearl City, Rita (Don) Christians of Rockford, Mary (Nathan) Beach of Cedarville; one son LaVerne (Gretchen) Suess of Hannible, MO; 16grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; three brothers Reubin Suess of Scottland, SD, Edmund (Irene) Suess of Freeport, Alton Suess of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters Clara Schlecter, Ella Bertrand both of Scottland, SD, Elda Juhnke of Columbus, NE; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and one great grandson.
