Mr. Alvin Elisha Harper, Jr. 92, of Newnan, died October 21, 2010 at Georgian Place in Newnan. He was born April 16, 1918 in Coweta County to the late Alvin & Pauleen Entrekin Harper. Mr. Harper was a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church and owned his own independent insurance agency in Newnan for many years. He served in the United States Navy and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Gold Star for meritorious service with the Patrol Bombing Squadron 105 during anti-submarine patrols in the Battle of the Atlantic. Survivors include wife, Beverly Maxwell Harper of Newnan; sisters-in -law, Angeline Kee of Gilbertsville, KY, Martha Jean (Gerald) Harris of Smyrna, GA, Velma (Jeff) Gulick of Newnan; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Donna) Maxwell of Pembroke Pines, FL, Tommy (June) Maxwell of Newnan.
